Any chance of a photo? The compass should fold down sufficiently to fit into the lined pouch. The brass popper snaps over the top. Done.

I have one that's a bit of a tight fit, don't know if the felt has shrunk? Can it be expanded?

Hi, you may be putting the compass in back to front or upside down, there is a knack to doing it!

Is it definately an original, there are a lot of fakes of the MK III and they don't fit in the pouch.

The hinge is screwed into side of lid and side of compass body

Unfortunately it's more than likely a replica then, and originals have the hinge as part of the lid and body casting. The replicas are a bit larger because of this and are a tighter fit.
