I know the main thrust of that article isn't the historical aspect of the VDV but it does get it wrong on two counts. -
Edit: Oops! I've just noticed it's a 1946 intelligence briefing. I was fooled by the way it talked about wartime as being in the past. Still, the comments about errors still stand
1 - They made rather more than one large scale drop during the war.
2 - While the drop referred to didn't achieve it's objective immediately (and was immensely costly for reasons similar to the failure of Market Garden) a large airborne force remained at large behind German lines for several months (the longest airborne operation in history incidentally) and did ultimately participate in forcing the river - their original objective.
