Hi guys!

After seeing an SS Dagger i fell in love.

I would like as much information about womens roles and uniforms to do with the SS as possible.

Thought this would be a nice challenge for you all :)

Thanks

Women in the SS wore leather basques and stockings and high heels and carried whips and ran naughty clubs.
I think.
I'm sure I saw that on the TV.

you really wouldn't want to portray a lot of the female roles in the SS.

lets just say they weren't front line,

Binz, Bosel, Bothe, Klaff, Mandel, Langefeld, Koch......

They weren't considered proper SS members though

The Allgemeine and Waffen SS were chaps-only clubs. Women were technically civilian helpers. Apart from KZ personnel, women had auxiliary roles in SS offices as telex and telephone operators, typists, clerks, etc. Also as nurses in field hospitals
They were known as Helferinnen, part of the SS-Helferinnenkorps and were trained at an academy in Obernai, Alsace.

Here is a recruiting poster specifically aimed at BDM girls, which translates as:
Young German Women,
The Waffen SS calls you
Help to secure victory, join the lines of the Waffen SS as an SS-Newsgirl (Messenger)
Every young German lady from 17 to 30 and at least 160cm tall, can volunteer as a SS-Newsgirl.
Further information and joining instructions can be obtained from local SS offices and police stations

Pete's uniform is technically a post-war one. The four-buckle FMBs give it away.

The only reference book seems to be one by Jutta Mühlenberg

ISBN: 9783868542394

It's all in German, but the Amazon preview page seems to give almost the entire book, so a bit of Google Translate should provide some interesting factoids.

Are you actually planning on joining an SS re-enactment group ? or just wandering about near railways pretending to be on Allo-allo ?

The latter is really not a good idea.

if all you know about the SS, is that you like the daggers - please leave it alone.

Well last month she was "Navy through-and-through" and all about doing a WRNS impression, so not sure how serious a request this is.

You want as much info as possible? I suggest a library. I'd stick to WRNS who actually had a useful role in WW2. Do we need SS worshippers who 'fall in love' with daggers?

I like weaponry, but come on love, youre letting the side down.

Vicks.

Just contact Helga (Lou) or Dink with regard to womens roles in the third reich.
Thier group FRAU is very helpful and informative.
