Thought I would share these pics of a full size model I've made of a WW2 German SC50 General Demolition Bomb, a type dropped during the Blitz. Lots of research has gone into this but I may of missed some details or got something wrong. I would appreciate any feedback or info that anyone has on this type of ordnance as I find it fascinating. My next project will probably be a SC250. The yellow on the tail BTW indicates the purpose and explosive type of the bomb, 'SC' stood for Sprengbombe Cylindrische (High Explosive), and '50' was the weight.

Totally agree, it looks too 'new'. Needs lots of scrapes on the body and fins. I'm sure they got thrown around during loading onto the aircraft. I wouldn't of liked to of been in the vacinity of one of these being manhandled!

After taking on-board the the suggestions, I thought I would update the post with the progress on my bomb project. Think it looks a bit more realistic now with scratches and scuffs from handling and loading onto the Heinkle and damage to the nose after it landed in a field :D

It has cost about £200 (including a lathe £120, £80 materials) to make it, and about 6 hours hard work. Couldn't get hold of a real one, so had to make one. I don't think there are many models around (if any) of an SC50 that are as realistic as this one.

Hi Chaps,

Just out of interested (well - in all honesty because i'd like to mock up one myself...!) What are the rough dimensions of the SC50? i.e overall length - diameter of the 'cylinder' section and so on?

Would be interested to know so I can think about creating something similar - though not as nice as yours!

Cheers
