Hi mate....IF you are portraying a WW2 carbine armed GI the bayonet lug has got to go...unless you are portraying a negro engineer battalion on Okinawa in May 1945 or Replacement USMC officers in Hawaii in June 1945 the M4 bayonet and Type 3 barrell band were not seen together until post war en masse

M4 bayonets on their own were a replacement for the M3 knife and seen from Dec44-Jan 45 onwards but issued on their own and NOT with bayonet lugged equipped M1 carbine

Sketchy anecdotal evidence suggests a FEW M2 carbines may have made it to Okinawa pre VJ day but certainly not the norm and these did have a bayonet lug fitted...even some M3 carbines made it to Okinawa equipped with infra red sights.

To have an M1 carbine equipped with a Bayonet lug for a Ww2 impression would be "Farby"...but fine for Korea when most M1 carbines were armoury rebuilt to the latest "post war" spec...i.e type 3 barrel bands...4 rivit handguards...pot bellied stocks and rotary safeties.

Hope this helps

regards

Lloyd
