Evening all,

This weekend saw the group get out and make the most of the weather and get some pictures snapped in the snow at our usual training ground. As we turned up it was belting down, but by the time we got round to starting the pictures it had all stopped :(

Still there was plenty of the white stuff around providing an excellent backdrop for our 'Ostfront 41-42' themed photoshoot.

More to follow as I get them, but for starters....

Well done to Herr Tauber for humping the lafette round for 4 hours - no wonder he looked so miserable :)

Thought i'd share some pics of the group taken recently at the Battle of Koenigsberg event which was fought alongside other Grossdeutschland kameraden against 2nd Guards. It was also our first time working alongside the GD Fusiliers and the Sunday morning saw successful co-operation between us to claim some Bolshevik scalps :) .

Although temperatures dipped below -9 on one night spirits remained high and all in all a good time was had by everyone.

Highlight of the weekend for me was our Funker managing to get a fully working switchboard set up for the first time in our position allowing communications between 4 different positions - despite having numb fingers from the cold and struggling to twist the wires.

The show season is finally upon us and the group has it's first this weekend at Fort Nelson. Alongside other LHA groups we will be taking part in 2 battles a day, firepower displays and in between things engaging in 'Rattenkrieg' with the 2nd Guards down in the tunnels.

If your in the area nip in and say hi.

Neil.

Evening each,

I've added some new articles to our website over the past couple of weeks for those interested.

The first is a more detailed look at some of the Uniforms worn by the German soldier of WW2 which can be found at:

http://www.gdrecon.co.uk/uniform.html

The aim of this is to show how the uniform and weapons evolved over the time Germany was at war.

Image

The second is on the 'Maschinengewehr 34', which can be found at:

http://www.gdrecon.co.uk/mg34.html

The indepth look at the weapons is something we will add to regulary (all being well)

Neil.

Also a reminder that the group are looking for new Kameraden to join the ranks for the 2010 season and our next couple of events are a training weekend in May and the Bovington Tankfest in June.

Last weekend saw the group head way down South to the Bovington Tankfest. Our display this year was based on troops waiting in their forward positions pre Kursk, July 1943.

Thankfully, this lent itself to getting up plenty of shelter and shade from temperatures that got up to 30 degrees on Sunday  More pics as I get through them, but for starters...

More pictures of our training weekend have been uploaded to Nicks site.

Over the weekend, our instructors lectured on gas equipment and how to use it, the FF33 field telephone and how to set communications between positions , a practical lesson on WW2 German assault tactics, an interesting talk on what information went into the Soldbuch and the inevitable bit of parade, square bashing and light and heavy weapons training.

Alongside the main pictures of the weekend, Nick also also managed to squeeze the taking of some nice portrait pictures into the weekend as well some of which (even though he'll kill me for loosing the detail :) ) i've made black and white in a effort to emulate the original wartime ones we often see.

And with that the 2010 offensive draws to a close for the group. Good to meet up with a few of you over the season, look forward to attending some great shows and working with more of you in 2011.

As ever, we are always on the look out for new members to swell our ranks, so if you fancy a portrayal of a Grossdeutschland Shutzen on the Eastern front, please get in touch.

Anyway, some pics...
