Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

Thanks Kate. I like to be able to date recipes. This would make a good comparision recipe for early war, late war puds. I would imagine they would taste very different.
I have made a late war one which was very dry...or perhaps that was just my cooking! :(

I like the bulrushes/light arrangement and the tipsy rabbit (?)!
I made my Christmas cake (my first ever!) from a 1948 ministry of food leaflet- still needs decorating and I’m yet to decide on a theme!!! I was wondering about an army/ navy or air force theme (like the ones from the stork c book)…. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

In the end I didn’t have chance to make any models (all ideas but no get up and go me!), so I made a cake frill (of sorts!) instead!
I didn’t even use my old cake decorations either….Tut, tut.

Btw the cake was rather tasty and I shall put up the recipe if anyone wishes?!

As we have little ones in the house, we have not displayed our 1930s Christmas ornaments for many a year, but at the mo in Britain a number of the retailers have caught onto the idea of 'vintage Christmas' thus we have been able to procure reasonable repro (shatter proof) Christmas decorations.

See image http://twitpic.com/dn537b

Anyone else been able to source repro Christmas decorations?

Just packing away the artefacts used in Edna's wartime Christmas talks including this lovely US box sent to Britain as part of War Relief. http://twitpic.com/7tlmzk
