Thanks :D The canvas cover came in a pair from America (the dealer said original )!?? and the actual black out lamp on the drivers side is a complete lamp unit I managed to find in Holland .

The canvas covers are available I think from Allied Forces or Worthings , I saw a blackout lamp unit on e bay about 3 weeks ago went for about if I remember right ,about £110 ish
Regards
Dave

TBH its nice seeing some Brit infantry jeeps fully kitted out... ;)

Service number? Adds character, or could be argued to be a stolen vehicle...

1st South Lancs .... anything Lancs is always good.... being from said.............

When did they get the M18 or is yours an M18A1....

I have an M18 and was only aware of the US 17th AB being issued with them, nice if I could use it for Brit too.....

:) Yep they were shipped out to the 17th nr Essen Germany, they dropped with British 6th Airborne Div behind enemy lines in support of the crossings, but I suppose its like the rest of the weapons ,as dad told me they picked up anything along the way especially German stuff as it was better than ours ,and the ammo was easier to get their hands on, so I suppose on their way from Holland they were approx 30kms away from Essen they could have got lost (which apparently happened on more than one occasion ) :) gone through Essen , could have picked up ,borrrowed, nicked an M18
Well thats my excuse anyway  Yes its an M18,I think
Dave

Ok.....

M18 or M18A1, the A1's have the handles on the breach added after the war...

Just intrested as mine is a M18 1945 without the post war mods...

Just nice to see another M18....

Do you have any rounds or a ammo box...

If you have an ammo box could you post some pix... looking to make a few for mine....

Wish I had some rounds and box , a good site to go on is http://www.gunbroker.com , M18/M18A1 bits come up on there , a guy had 6 rounds he was selling but at a ripoff price of $200 ea , but I keep looking hoping someone comes on at a reasonable price ,saw a round at Beltring and they wanted £120.00, another guy on Gunbroker is selling at the moment Scope ,full bag, front site telescope mount and shoulder mount all for $200 + $45.00 shipping-Vietnam era ? I think the scope is a M36F but the kit looks the biz for the money .

On mine it has the USA Ord markings and date stamp 45 at the bottom front of the breach, only ever seen one other and that was on a Dutch lads Jeep about 12yr ago .

I have a round, but it's 1952 dated.... didn't spend that....

Has your M18 been overstamped A1, it appears to have the breach lever of the A1's....

Have an early scope going by the No.s

When you say full bag you mean the early bag or the later breach amd muzzle cover, also cover the sight etc... in 3 parts....
