Managed to pick up this today for £30. Now I need a bit of help on its authenticity. If its a repro then for £30 I can't complain, if it's genuine I've come across something cool.

The blade has no markings. and the cross guard/ pommel have pits and rust so no markings are obvious. So i'm inclined to think it's a repro.

The leather washers have a plastic/ bakerlite washer at the end closest the pommel and cross guard (tried to show it in the pic). Only ever seen this practice on an original, not on any repro's I have seen.

Please can anyone help me to clarify this one way or another.

Cheers

Noddy...sounds to me like a Kutmaster post war M3 "civilian" type knife.Crossguard looks too "thin" for an original.
Saying that check for "grind" marks on the blade or crossguard where the military markings have been ground out.

Also check the pommel..the bit at the end for retaining pins.....or how is the tang fastened to the blade...(look end on) and also has it got a flaming bomb ordnance mark stamped on the pommel.

Also not wishing to insult your intelligence but are you sure its an M3 not a 6" blade 1950s jet pilot survival knife.

Regards

LLoyd

arent any pins in the pommel i'm afraid, about 3mm spacing between each washer. Blade does seem to have been ground (lines on the blade etc). The pommel is pitted and has slight rust so i can only presume someone has perhaps altered it, and in doing so has removed the original parkerising allowing it to pit and rust. i'll add another couple of pics tomorrow showing the full thing.
