Is the Bruni a better replica of the 1911 rather than a 1911A1? It's missing the hump at the lower rear of the grip. Smooth wood grips? I dont know thats why I'm asking.
Good questions. You obviously know you're guns to have spotted the missing hump! Mind you being a horrible glossy black with all the BRUNI wording along the slide IMO detracts from it being a replica of either.
BTW when I referred to wider grips I should really have written thicker, as in the wood having a greater depth than the plastic ones I swapped for.
Back to the questions. I can't profess to being a Colt 1911 expert - far from it, I've mostly used the following image to guide me though I can't remember where it came from.
Going by the comparison picture the Bruni isn't a particularly good replica of either the M1911 or the M1911A1.
For example, the Bruni has the shallower trigger and recessed trigger pull (3 and 6) of the M1911A1 but lacks its, as you say, hump (4). The Bruni doesn't have the quite distinctive lanyard ring of either model.
My Brit impression calls for a M1911A1 so I've modded the handgrips to make it as close to that as possible, imperfect though it is. TBH my airsoft gas blow-back is a much, much better replica but it doesn't go bang (well, not quite as loudly!!!).
