Just watched the latest program in the new Combat Dealers series .... in order to sell an original 88 flak gun, they actually re-activated what was a de-activated piece ... I thought that was illegal under any circumstances ..??

They would need the appropriate Licence and be able to account for its existance when adding it to their FAC.

Not sure if its illegal it just reverts back to its original state if the deactivation process is interfeared with in any way.

It was sold to someone outside the UK and he did use an armorer to put in a replacement breech block ... still and all seems a grey area though, I thought under the VCR Act it was a no no to reactivate a deact, full stop .. ??

Perhaps it went to a U.K. or overseas museum, with appropriate exemption. In Switzerland, deactivation is illegal. By that, I mean there is no recognized process within Switzerland for deactivation. EU, UK and other external deactivation may be recognized for importation with correct paperwork, + proof of ownership. The Swiss are more interested in cutaway examples of firearms , than deacs. A cutaway sectioned firearm is recognized as a non -firing firearm.

It’s not illegal to reactivate a deact if you hold the correct license for a live version of that weapon.

Yes Ok ... but in holding a licence for a live version of that weapon why would you want, buy or have a deact version of it .. ??
