First time I've looked at this forum in months. Can't really explain why I stopped coming in. Guess I just drifted away. Probably a mixture of can't be bothered to argue and a lack of posts. There was a definitely a point where people got tired of the same old questions, got people to stop posting them again and then realised there was little else to talk about. Once people stop posting stuff, people stop logging on.

Oh and merry christmas! haha.

It seems a modern disease, any one starting a topic or expressing an opinion gets jumped on and starts an argument, easier to keep quiet and look in from the outside.

I have to say that its much more civilised on the forum's (or is it fori?) since all the loonies started wasting their lives and baring their bottoms on Farce Book, long may it continue :D

Social media tends to draw the less desirable people away from forums but they then draw attention to the hobby on social media giving a bad name to those who are civilised reenactors on said platforms and elsewhere. In another note I haven't been on in several months due to general inactivity on the forums which is unfortunate as living in Canada we don't have as many groups, events, people etc.to be able to communicate with about the hobby so things such as a forum as wide reaching as this is a valuable resource and these days sadly neglected by most.

We get little flurries of activity now and then still ... interesting stuff to to a point, it would be nice though to get back to a more active input.

Yep... I'm still on here too. Always ready to help with French related stuff, even if there's pretty much no question asked any more! :D
I guess people post their pictures on Facebook now, as well as their acid comments. I still believe a forum is a better platform for long-term information & research (i.e. we can easily find and read several years old posts).

I actually created an FB account only last year, but I keep it strictly for reenacting, I mean keeping in touch with reenactors I know in "real" life, and chatting to organise our events.
But I get pissed off by the average FB users and REALLY don't want to go any further into social networks.

Why do users of this and other forums post a question and then appear to show no interest in the replies.

This is the sort of thing I mean:-

Poster A... Where can I buy left handed widgets?
Poster B... I bought some from Widgets Unlimited.

It would be polite for Poster A to a least make some comment to the reply and this would also show that the reply has been read. The reply might be positive e.g. I'll try Widgets Unlimited or even just thanks for the info or negative e.g. I've tried Widgets Unlimited already and they only supply then in 50s and that's too many for my needs.

Having seen that the widgets are still required:-

Poster C... If you PM me I have a few used ones that may be O.K. for your needs.
Poster A... PM sent.

Now, if there aren't anymore post from Poster A, we can all assume that he is sorted.

How many times do you answer a post and then nothing back from the poster before you think I won't bother to answer anymore questions and I think that I will give up on the forum.

I don't suppose that this post will make any difference but I feel better for writing it.
