I really don't understand why - but they're going to be remaking Das Boot.

How can they improve the original?

Simply shouldn't be done, awesome film and surely a hot contender for best ever war movie

For the same reason you have Terminator 29, Spiderman gazzillion and 3 etc etc .... no flair, no imagination, no creativity any more in the film industry .... and of course to make money, they know it will probably sell, no risk of a loss ... in essence they are making TV series out of films franchises, you only have to look at your box sets to see that ... crazy ... !!!

There are a myriad of true war stories and countless books too, fact and fiction that would also make a good film ... not that we will see them as films though .. !!

Get Brad Pitt in the lead role, make the Submarine do a 360 no-scope on a Battle Ship whilst in mid air, throw in some Jews and a Sherman Tank, should be a great hit.
