From Tinterweb:

This is a EDWIN JAY marked William Rodgers Sheffield Wrist Dagger and Scabbard, which was a wrist dagger used by SOE operatives during WWII.

The knife measures about 5-3/4 inches overall, with the blade measuring 3-1/4 inches long. It is marked with a script etch "Truflite" and stamped WILLIAM RODGERS / SHEFFIELD / ENGLAND / No785829 in four lines on one side of the blade and EDWIN (bird logo) JAY on the other side.

But i suppose you already knew that bit?

Cant find anything webwise linking it to SOE just some websites 'claiming' that it was used by one of them.

Well, what I mean by that, sir, is... if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile of Adolf Hitler with a clear line of sight, sir... pack your bags, fellas, war's over. Amen.

i would be very wary about this even being older than 60's / 70's when i used to sell this kind of throwing (Truflite) knife from a shop (legally then!); also available then in sets of 3 iirc?

metal fittings on scabbard don't look old enough..(?)

I too had one of those when I was a kid, I bought it from a camping shop in Coniston in about 1977.

Looking using Truflite on the www.... 1970's made in Sheffield by a few makers all very similiar....

But are they from a WW11 pattern which is why one US dealer makes the SOE claim.... or is it all pie in the sky.... for those who don't do thier research

Different makers over a period of 40years or I am just crossing too many fingers.... in the hope that the set of three in my shed is really SOE or OSS WW11 issue.... lol

Fairly sure this has nothing to do with SOE. It is just a Throwing Knife, and believe it is post-WW2.

It's whole design doesn't suggest stabbing anyone either imho, look at a Fairbairn Sykes for example, now that's designed as a weapon...!
