Can anyone please help identify this canvas carrier?

It looks as if it would be ideal for a hip flask or small water bottle but not very sturdy for field use?

Thanks

Ian

1st thought, tropical water bottle carrier, which has its bung attached to sling.

To be honest, it looks like some shonky item someones created using fabric from a KD tropical/pith helmet bag and a generic leather strap. The sewing looks badly done, the seams aren't made at all well or evenly, or in the style used with other canvas products of the era, and the closure popper is a basic stitch-on civilian type. The "bung" that pioneer64 mentions is clearly a leather sword knot that's been randomly added - just Google "leather sword knot" to see confirmation. A fantasy item that's not been made very well. Apologies if this is not the answer you were hoping for.

Tend to agree that it's "shonky" (not heard that word before!)

It came with some very nice Binoculars, so it was just a bonus - or not

Thanks for your help

Ian
