Good find!
To be honest, from looking at eBay and such, they appear to be far more common over your side of the pond than here in the UK. Looks like the Canadians surplus'd out a lot (or the British sold a load off to US/Canada) and you do find them being substituted for the US pick head, as they're about the same length and fit nicely in the US carrier.
