They would say its right though, they sell them.

The only pictures I have seen seem to show a grey box not the brown waxed box beloved of our american friends.

did the brits not have rations in Box?

Mark

Yes Mark - the Brits had a 24hr Ration in a box - the box is not my gripe its the contents. They bear little resemblence to what was in there. Thats the reason I ask if its for display or consumption. If its the former we are in great danger of rewriting history.

The Juno centre in Normandy already displays a 'Knacker Squaddie' ration as 'original'

Dragon figures (1-6th Scale etc) have already copied a 're-enactor' ration as a component of one of their WWII figures.

I dunno - If you are eating the stuff - does it matter? If you are showing the stuff on display and saying this is what they had - then in my opinion, yes.

I have posted original photos from the IWM of the ration on this forum many times and also the istruction sheet - an original which I have in my collection.

Other worthies such as Mike Dyse and Paul Woodage have also extensively researched this subject and produced reproduction components.

I have other photos that I bought from the IWM. They give a few clues - biscuits on their sides down one side. Dobsons Barley Sugars loose on the top etc

The latrine paper is just like the Izal stuff as prevously talked about - I have a few original sheets (who thinks.... Yes great souvenir of my war....). You can buy the Izal in a flat sheet dispenser too, not on a roll. I guess thay go in the bottom of the box.

The sweets varied to whatever was available, Barley Sugars, clear fruits etc

Cheming gum - the tablet type has not changed.

I use ALDI Dairyfine chocolate - cut into 3x2's - and re wrapped - works well.
