Hi All,

I know very little about British gear as I really only collect US stuff. I've been offered some British Helmets, but I don't whether they're worth getting involved with.

Are there any makers that are particularly sought after or dates that are more desirable than others? I'm looking solely from a collector's perspective rather than for re-enacting a particular period.

I know that eBay isn't the best place for price comparisons, but some seem to sell for £9.00, some for £40+, why is this?

Any help at all would be gratefully received! I don't want to part with the wrong amount of cash!

Thank you.

Without a proper look...three down looks how it should.
If your looking to make a profit...again not sure on qty or quality unless all are pictured. I would suggest an offer of 10 pound each...i have many good brit helmets and never paid more than 20 quid each...#justsaying

Last time I seen them for sale by a dealer was at a reenactment event, they were selling for £35, going back to the good old days before the bay and the computer, you could pick them up at carboots for £5 or £6. times have changed.

Flashed helmets are where the money is at...or if its '39 dated just add 'Dunkirk' to the listing.

Theres no one rare maker over another with these but it would seem early dated Infantry ones are worth more than plain Home front lids.

Are there any marking on these ones?

Originality of paint, chinstrap and liner also adds value, as does the size of the liner. Canadian Mk.II's seem to fetch slightly higher prices than comparable British examples.
