Brought a french police light brown uniform which I take it is the summer uniform was that worn dureing WW2 era also what colour sam brown belt was worn seen black and white ones in photos but thought white belts was for ceromonial use

Hi John,
yes, white belts were for ceremonial use.
I thought until recently that the regular belt was black, but during WW2 it was brown. It was black before and after WW2...
What you'd need is this kind of belt and strap:
