Just posting this up after seeing that Bilko (Dave Wild) will be laying a wreath over in Italy to commemorate what elements of these units did.

Dave all credit to you and if you'd like a contribution towards the wreath mate then give me a shout.

Cheers Dave

Thanks for the kind offer,Which i'll have to refuse...As mentioned in our phone call earlier,We[fssf] are submiting a plaque at Mt summucro hill mass in memory of the 3rd,And a wreath for the Ranger regiment that had so many losses at cisterna...Since that was the catalist that swelled our[fssf] numbers...

Regards,

Dave.

are you laying a wreath for each of the three ranger BN's then? Or just one for all three?

rangerfamily.org has a few pics of former rangers in the FSSF:

I think hte last one is my favorite because it shows Frank Steele in 2 different class A's - one with FSSF patch and one with a 4th Ranger scroll....

I want to do a combined one for cisterna and just one for 3rd Bn at Mt Sammuco[hill 950]the 36th could be included on it as the 3rd were "attached" to them....

Hi Dave, you better stick to the Ranger battalions alone (given, as you said, their connection to the FSSF), otherwise you'll have to carry more wreaths than you possibly can! So many Allied units shed their blood in that small area of Italy...

1s Armored... 3rd Inf.... 34th... 36th .... 45th .... 504th PIR.... just to name a few US units, let alone the British, Polish, New Zealanders.... even Italians...

And, of course, the FSSF itself...
