Medics attached to the 5th ranger battalion

I’m thinking about putting together a medics impression and have the following questions.

Did the 5th have medics attached to them ?
What type of webbing would they of used and what would go inside them?
Would they carried a side arm (i.e) 1911 or just a knife
Does anyone have any photos of medics in any ranger battalions ?

Any advice or help in anyway would be most appreciated I want to get this right and not get poked with a stick.

Sorry I can be more help but the only pics i have of medics with Rangers would be above Point Du Hoc i believe and one of a medic recieving a medic sometime in Normandy. Niether of them are wearing webbing but the webbing they would be wearing would be standard Army issue. This site should be useful.

If you are doing a D-Day scenerio, so not have a painted medic helmet, from all the research I have done, there are no medics with painted helmets on D-Day. Some used armband under thier helmet nets but i havent seen a pic of medics with painted helmets on D-Day.

Most probably didnt, but a few medics did have painted helmets on D-day. And there were medics with the 5th Rangers.

The first 2 pics have one medic each - with the 2nd rangers at Point du hoc. Click on 'all sizes' to get a better view.....

This next pic is on the way to the HMS Prince Baudouin to load up before Normandy, but they all have painted helmets. LCA 1377 carried part of HQ Co, 5th Rangers with medic. On the far right, is LCA 521, which also has a medic with a painted helmet.

Here is one post D-day, but I believe sometime before June 23rd......

The evidence from those photos would say that the 5th did have painted Medics' Helmets, but the 2nd didn't.

Cheers,
Glen.
