Erm my Lt will put me right on this but I picked up a British ww2 poncho - bloody great big triangular thing with buttons and collar - no hood tho - and very waterproof. Would the Rangers have maybe liberated one from a British colleague????(wouldnt wear it on parade Sir but great on stag on a wet night!!!)

Is it green or light brown/khaki.

If its green, then its pretty much post war.

To answer your question Fritz then that would be a yes as they did obtain some kit from the Commandos during training at Achnercarry but as Phil says make sure it's a wartime one.

Cheers Lt. !

Yep, after all research, and looking at the manuals, things like this open up a whole can of worms....On many fronts...

I'am sure I am preaching to the converted but the problem with "never say never" is that you end up with a "unit" of 12 guys or more (or less) all looking completly different, 1 Tommy cooker doesnt a kitchen make. :D

Is that the same as 40 rangers using ponchos because there fit for use in y2k?,The fact ONE tommy cooker was found in a u.s army battle 3000 ft up a mountain is a reverlation not 40 ponchos on the backs of who ever in a rain soaked beltring.

You know you are my favourite seller mate, just pulling your leg a bit, nobody (or maybe a few) is perfect and I think finding the cooker is amazing but you know what some people are like, every GI will have an easier and cheaper item because.................................................
