Well guys seems that the point Sam was making has finally been noted.See General section about guy wearing medals etc. I can see no difference between that Tosser and somebody wearing a CIB they are not entitled to.30 days combat???? The award is still currently issued!!!!!People are laying thier ass on the line for this in Afganistan. Some Dopey who wants to dress up his class A pins this on and toddles of to his groups annual p**s-up.What did you get your CIB for????? I can see that in circumstances theatrical/educational some medals and awards are appropriate to give accuraccy to the snapshot of history portrayed. In that situation it is for public entertainment /education no more no less than TV documentaries or Dramas. To wear one because it looks cool or I'm a Walter Mitty but don't tell anybody,is not an excuse I can buy.Only a bit of tin, with a lot of meaning behind it!

I see the ever truthful Sun has named and shamed the Walter Mitty at the Remberance Day parade. There were some interesting comments made in regards to the wearing of medals you are not entitled to wear. Hopefully this shamefull practice will soon come to an end! Both by Farbs and reenactors who should really know better and have more respect!

Gordon

I see the point in a film production, or perhaps even at a formal piece of "re-enacting", but at a night on the town, at a 40s dance or "promenading"?...Just plain and simple BS, and coming from ex Army types in this scene is really quite hypocritical and in the extreme, disgusting...And to compound it all, the excuses

I think Paul the whole thing is summed up with I take what the vets say with a pinch of salt. Doesnt that show you the arrogance and egos of people who have not done nothing in life so a medal or two can boost your moral.

Guys we are preaching to the converted and by and large what we say does n't matter. We know we are right, many Vets are far to polite to point the finger and say what are you doing Merchant Banker wearing those medals. We fortunately had a good mentor in Sam Magee, who certainly was n't to polite to say exactly what he thinks. I do like a bit of cockney rhyming slang!

My what a sad b'stard Mr Edwards is. Still there you go, I don't think we can really class him as a reenactor though, except in his mind.
I am begining to think along the lines that we should feel sorry for the poor souls who have to wear awards and medals that the don't qualify for.
What do you prefer my scorn or my pity?????????

Nice little tune Phil. I know I'm a moron, and many other things also.Being a Carp Fisherman you gotta try a different bait when the first one don't work. That's six posts no wind-ups.
Perhaps I'll become a 'Serious Moron' if keep it up,then people will take me seriously!

Nice to see Paul again, looks like the photo shoot went well.Don't get too sidetracked with your international postings. There is still plenty to do this side of the pond! I agree you need to get your name about, but has too much time been spent on international operations to the extent of almost ignoring your UK commitment.
