Wondering if you guys can help.

I’m trying to find out what the loading and firing drill for a Northover would be. So what would the commands be, what are the positions of the three man crew, what does each man do etc.

According to wiki that information might be in Military Training Manual No 42, Amendment No. 1, Appendix F. but so far I’m having no luck in tracking one of those down.

Whilst I’ll keep looking I though I would take the chance and ask if anyone on here has the information they would be willing to share.

Hi Darden, I've got the manual. I'll drop it off on Sunday (if I remember).

Heyup Darden
Most of the drills I believe are at the back of a sten manual??
We do it like this...
No. 1 Commander
No.2 Firer [inc. breech opener and loading firing cap]
No. 3 Loader [inc. powder charge]

Commands are:-
Commander, 'Mortar team tank action!'
when team in position 'Ready'
Commander, 'Lay and sight' [add 50 if using 36m]
Team, 'Ready'
Commander. [GRIT standard fire control order], 'Mortar team, 100, Enemy armoured vehicle moving left to right' etc. No. 68 load.
team 'Ready'
Commander,' Fire' [or what's appropriate]

Send me your email in a pm and i'll forward the pamphlet to you.

Yes they came through fine.

Sorry, it was remiss of me not to respond. I picked them up, read them then closed the PC down and it slipped my mind.

The youtube video's were pretty interesting as well.

Hopefully see you and the lads around during the summer.
