I've spent a long time trying to find ARP Battledress (in a size 42.. I'm 6'3 so needs to be larger sized) But have so far had no luck.

Would it work taking a RAF or RN Battledress (in its grey or dark blue) and dying it to a darker black work ?

If so - does anyone know where to get cheap repro battledress that I can muck about with?

Cheers for all and any assistance.

I've seen original BD dyed black, and it looks fine, so I think it should work okay. In fact I don't think it needs to be RAF or Navy BD that you use, as I'm pretty certain that it'll work with normal Army BD as well.

Awesome OK. Cheers! Now I just need to find some cheap battledress. If I'm dying it black then I don't want to be paying £80 or more from places like SOF.

Is this possible or am I just being overly optimistic?

I have a limited supply of black serge and I could make you a battle dress uniform and I have original WW2 ARP BD to copy from.
That said I dont normally make BD so it would involve a lot of work and you would need to come for some fitting I am near wigan in the north west of england. So it wouldnt be cheep.
I woud be happy to sell you some material if you could find someone local to you to do the stiching.
Hope that I can be of help.
Frank

I asked SoF a couple of years back when they would be doing CD battledress/ARP boiler suits and they said it 'was in the pipeline'. I've seen nothing since. Best thing to do is if more people ask them.

Over the last year they've started issuing Warden Helmets and ARP arm bands so perhaps there is a market out there. Perhaps we're not the only ones who enjoy being the "bad guys" ;-)
