Just browsing the Imperial war Museums photos and found this one. Definitely different from what you usually see.

He was also mentioned in Graves book the Home Guard of Britain. His surname can also be spelled Bukhari. He was later the Director General of Radio Pakistan.
I've not seen anything on the HG but there was a wartime article in one of the ARP periodicals titled 'coloured people in ARP' and mentioned quite a number of people in London.

There was a west indian chap serving in the wartime NFS who was well known in the London area for his discussion group meetings that were very popular with members of the Fire Brigade and ARP
..there's also Fl.Sgt Jim Hyde (pictured) who was stationed at Detling
