Hi all,

I'm going to The Netherlands next week, and wondered if anyone could recommend any WWII museums to me? I've done a bit of research, but not a lot has come up. I will be in Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Arnhem and Nijmegen. I'm a home front reenactor, so mainly interested in the civilian/resistance side, but I wondered if anyone could recommend any museums/battlefields/etc worth visiting.

Thanks,
Alice

Ditto the Hartenstein recommendation, allow plenty of time to see all of it and if you can pay a visit to the Arnhem / Oosterbeek Airborne cemetery too, very thought provoking and beautiful place.

In Amsterdam, you will find the Verzetsmuseum (Dutch Resistance Museum) well-worth a visit.

In case you have an interest in S-E Asia, the Bronbeek museum in Arnhem focuses on the military history of the Dutch East Indies, the Japanese occupation and the decolonization and its aftermath. At the same time, Bronbeek is the Dutch counterpart of the Royal Hospital Chelsea!

The Marshall Museum in Overloon is well worth a visit. 300+ vehicles on display and much more.

Thanks all for the responses. I visited the Verzets Museum today and was really impressed, hopefully when I'm in Arnhem I will get to the airborne museum and cemetery at the weekend.
