Have seen a picture of Dutch resistance with M1917's but have sources quoting the M1917 being issued to dutch forces. Anyone any ideas? Far east maybe or the troops the USMC trained?

US M1917 rifles? Air dropped surely?

I know that some were dropped to the resistance here in Denmark, so I'd guess at it being the same in the Netherlands.

Coincidentally, I was looking through the Standard Catalog of Military Firearms (edited by Philip Peterson) the other night, and I saw something I had never noticed before. Apparently, there was a Dutch-made rifle called the M1917 that was essentially an 8mm version of the Dutch M95 rifle. It was made at Hembrug, and was commonly called the "machinegunner rifle" because it used the same 8mm round that was also used in the Dutch Schwartzlose and Vickers machine guns.

I have never seen one of these rifles (I have no idea how many were even made), but I would love to see how it compares to the standard 6.5mm M95 rifle.
