Hi ya

I know that the Seenotdienst was a Luftwaffe unit But they had charge of small boats to rescue the downed aircrews. Were these vessels manned by Luftwaffe or Kriegsmarine crews?

What kind of uniform did they wear?

Thanks in advance :D

Here is an informative link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seenotdienst

I believe the article is lacking in telling that in the beginning of the war the flying part of the Seenotdienst was under the Küstenfliegers (fairly equivalent to Coastal Command), which operationally were under the Kriegsmarine. This changed as the war wore on and Gøring trumped through his famous slogan "everything that flies, belong to me".
