In our group we have one individual who want's to do it and I'm thinking about it. In our group you have to be qualified and have regular check ups to portray that. Only when there is no Red cross at the re-enacting event and only for minor stuff off course, for the severe stuff professional would be needed.

In september or oktober there's going to be a 3 day course at my work and I'm going to take it.

I can't find a suplier that sells the blue collar patch. I've found the shoulderboards and the tradepatch, but no blue patches! they are always yellow, green, red or white

Was going to do this about five years ago, got all the kit, researched it really heavily then one day put all the kit on and looked at myself in the mirror: Saw this fat old c*** staring back.

If I was younger, thinner and less of a c*** I would.........

I would, but I only have the helmet at the mo - back in the mists, I decided to do British as my first attempt at living-history, and I lack the cash to scrape a second impression :(

update: since no one was interested I've bought myself an original pair

Post subject:  FJ Sani- Charlie Ecke

Charlie Ecke passed away last year. He was with 7th FJ Sani Abt on Kreta. (as well as other units) I remember he said he was annoyed because he was a Sani, his rank was that of Unteroffizier, wheras he would have preferred Oberjager (it was the impact of being "Over" something rather than "Under" something/one).

Although a medic he was also expected to defend the lazerett. On Kreta he was armed with an Mp40. He said that as he crawled over to the Waffenbehalter the rounds were really coming in.As he opened the lid on the tin it was peppered with Mg fire. A close call, to say the least.

Charlie and another Sani were credited with rescuing Gen. Meindl under heavy fire. "The book says that 'Two Jager sprang up and ran to the General....' ...we did not 'spring up' I will tell you that for sure". when they reached the General they rolled him onto a Zeltbahn and dragged him back.

I also remember him saying about how difficult it was trying to chuck an operating table out of the door of the Tante Ju whilst coming under heavy fire.

Incidentally, Tom Gulliver has a lovely picture of him (colour tinted) in a Beute KD tunic with all his awards and insignia. (He lived in Tom's village)

May he rest in peace

Is it a qualified first aider you want or just some one who can carry the stuff.

As I have contacted FJR6 about possibly joining and have done little bits of first aid like applying bandages and slings when i was in th cadets mind you it was a while a go now.

Cheers Andy

does anyone have any information on what a fallschirmjager sanitat would of carried. Would they of worn an armband and if so where can you get these from.

Also would they of painted their helmets white with a red cross like the infantry.

What would they carry all their items in.

Any info would be really useful Thanks Andy

If you are wanting to portray a medic as part of a Fallschirmjager platoon then wear the standard yellow collar tabs, the blue tabs are for the specific FJ Sanitats Abt units at Divisional level I beleive.

Charlie Ecke (RIP) had the blue and was in 7th Sani Abt. See the book by J.Y.Nass - "Fallschirmjager" or "Green Devils"..I forget the name.....someone here must have this book (Hint: the one he wrote before "Kreta")

Hey, there is a place in Italy I think they have a sore on ebay that sells the blue collar patches and they are good ones! I know they have a proper online shop but don't remember what it's called. When I get home I'll find the link for you.

Epic isn't good: the gulls must be in metal and not in wire. The shoulderboards wheren't good also. The Italian place is better.
