with all the 'wrongness' threads here on this forum I thought an MP and, although its not the Navy section, SP wrongness thread would serve a beneficial purpose.

MP's are easily as overdone as paratroopers, mailnly because everyone wants to sex up when they dress up and when done to the max it is a hella tarty impression. It is easy to overdo and I have heard people say that they know something is wrong but it 'looks better' (this was Navy shore patrol reenactors with white web gear and leggings)

Fact is that the glitz was a fairly restricted practice.

Wrongness in too much glossy bling for the location portrayed, wrongness in the choice of band colour on the helmet for Army, corps or divisional level MP's.

Interesting topic, can you expand on it a little e.g. the band colour. It's still early days but I would like to put together a credible impression.

If you look at the predominant colour in a shoulder sleeve insignia for corps and armies, most of them follow a theme. Maybe the MP band aligns with this practice.
I agree with Lloydy on the white gear thing. No one seems to get brown gear for class A impressions.
Cold war is of course a different matter entirely. To a point less is more but not at the expense of MP 'essentials' such as a marked helmet and the tools of the trade

Thanks Lloyd, my preferred impression would be of Divisional MPs deployed in theatre so there would be no nice white targets to aim at! Already have started the impression at 'Yellow' Divisional level, I'll do some more research myself and see what I can find out.

I know JC is interested as well, I guess it's one of those impressions that you can mess up really easily. It's not just a matter of painting a stripe around your pot and putting on an MP armband although I have to confess that's about as far as I've got so far
