I've got hold of an MP's nite stick and I'm knocking them out for people if anyone wants one, they'll be made of Oak so very solid, have yet to try one out I'm lacking volunteers :D .

I want to make them as close to the originals as poss, what wood wad used Hickory?? Personally I think the Oak looks and feels great.

Is there any markings on the originals???,are there different styles??
was there hole drilled for leather/cotton cords?? or was it wrapped and tied around just in front of the handle??

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

They look very nicely done 8) Mine has leather thong through hole at the back end of the handle (like youve done on right hand example - but through the first turn after the pommel)

Weather mine is original or repro i do not know ?

DITTO that in BLOCK CAPITALS!! These MP Batons / nite sticks are superb, I just took delivery of one and they are every bit as good as Tim says - no self respecting MP should be without one!!

Thanks Steve

Hi there Steve!
Just received my batons from you ...
To say they're great would be an understatement!
If I had to choose a word then I'd have to say - they're EXCEPTIONAL!!!
The craftmanship is stunning and magnificent, the texture of the wood grain,
the smell of the wood ..... aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
(Better than Bisto)!
These look stunning.

If you do do M.P. then you need one of these ...
I don't just mean A baton - I mean one of STEVE'S batons!
The Very Best Is HERE!

Cheers again Steve!

Would you recommend varnishing them? Or did they darken with age?
