Sonderführer-Leutnant Buchheim smartly snaffles the schnapps from Smudger's bag and tips three fingers worth into the glass of his fellow officer.

Rughey proceeds to lead the rest of the willing room in a rousing rendition of "Wild Rover" and "Whiskey In The Jar."

"That's my brother, George Best. He's got a row of party medals on his chest. It takes all of the Army and the Navy to take the bra off Mae West!"

"Who needs a refill?" he asks, dropping a wad of cash on the bar.

I didn't realize I was also tonights entertainment.

So a couple of German spies are parachuted into England to do some serious spying.
They go into the first pub they come across to see if they could blend in properly.
They walk upto the bar and the Barman asks "What will it be, Gentleman?"
To which the first German spy answers "Two Martinies pleaze."
"Dry, Sir?" asks the Barman.
To which the other German spy screams out "NEIN! ZWEI NATURLICH!"

Bu-dum-Tisch!

Sorry but that appears to be my entire repertoire for today. And it looks like I'm in need
of another drink.

"Danke geehrter Herr, es war ein Vergnügen, Sie auf dieser memorable Mission zu begleiten. Ich denke, daß größere Bierbecher besser sein würden!"

Buchheim bangs on the bar. "Cold bier for Oberleutnant zur See Müller! And bigger glasses! Mach schnell, mein host!"

The relief bartender rolls his eyes upward and starts dusting off a couple of quart steins unused since the Germans had control of the town. He fills them to the top with ice-cold Stella Artois, and places them carefully on the bar. Buccheim slowly draws a finger down the side of one glass, leaving a clear trail in the misty condensation... You can just hear the wet sound of a round dozen tongues hitting the floor as the rest watch with envy.

The two submariners clink their glasses together gently so as not to spill anything and begin their long, cold, voyage to the bottom of the steins.

"Ich danke Ihnen mein Freund, mein guter Freund. Wir hatten einige gute Male an Bord während dieser Reise, und irgendein naher Verlust, den ich denke. Sie müssen erklären mir von selbst, aber unser Bier kommt zuerst !"

The pair look at their biers, then pausing, smile at each other in the knowledge of men who having been through hell together have performed a job well done. Then without a word they begin to slowly sink their ice cold bier. They are watched by the assembled gathering, their kameraderie is unspoken and yet it's presence is witnessed by all.
