Hello Everyone

As I am rather rotund, I feel it is going to be rather difficult to find outfits to fit me. So I need to find sewing patterns that SWMBO can make up for me, trousers, shirts and even a suit. I have searched the net but my google-fu is weak at the moment.

I'm looking for patterns to fit a 54" chest and 48"/50" waist.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Regards

Hi Andy, there are a number of patterns in bigger sizes on the evadress.com site, including PDF patterns which cut down on postage.

Also, Simplicity have a costume range (mostly crap) but there are high backed trousers in good sizes and a collarless shirt. Simplicity 5035 and 5023. They're crap for the era they intended to be, but they're good for ww1 onwards.

I would say Evadress should be your first port of call. :)

These trousers go up to a 46" waist.

Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

Just managed to pick up the Simplicity 5035 pattern, just have to await its delivery from Canada.

Get yourself to a show where Bernie the bolt is trading. He sells excellent wools and tweeds ideal for the era at a good price.

Hi Kate

We would normally be at Twinkleberry (Tewkesbury) as its very local and easy for us to replenish the Mead stocks :D
But the Yorkshire Weekend Event is the same weekend and we've plumped for that one instead.

I don't suppose you have a list of the events Bernie is at by any chance?

Regards

I don't I'm afraid! I was rather hoping to track him down for fabric at some point but I know that he's something to do with this event so you can contact him on there:
