Hi guys

Tried to ask this elsewhere and just received silly answers, you guys are usually really helpful so I thought I would ask!

It's for a book I'm writing. Do you know any German sayings such as 'oh well' or 'going like the clappers' or common phrases form the period? Also, anybody know how Wehrmacht soldiers would toast schnapps? Prost?

I used to know a man who was on the eastern homefront, but he has since passed away sadly and it's quite hard finding such minutiae.

Thanks very much for any suggestions

Robsa

Is this any help? :)

''Dran, Drauf, Drüber.'' A contraction of "daran, darauf, darüber", which means "at it, on it, over it."

''Wenn schon, denn schon'' = ''If somethings worth doing, it's worth doing right.''

"Ordnung muß sein!" = There must be order.''
