Hello all,

Just doing a spot of research and despite having trawled the net (probably not in the right places) I can't seem to find what I'm after.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how early the free Polish forces were issued British battledress? Would this be straight off the bat on their arrival in England in 1940 or would they still be wearing their original uniforms in the UK at this time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't really know, but it would appear "not immediately" is the answer. See this film from Scotland: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/gener ... uery/poles

Yes! I think, judging by this film - practice the "funny style of marching": http://www.britishpathe.com/video/mr-ch ... uery/poles

I found a French 'Adrian' on a carboot, recently, with the paint-outline, of where the Czech ? shield had been removed.

There's little definite information available, but a few photos point to Koolhoven fighters having been purchased by the French L'Armee De La Air, which together with Caudron 714's, were issued to Polish squadrons in France.

I know you've posted quite a while ago, but if it helps, I can photograph my Dad's uniform for you - he was in the Polish Free Army stationed in the UK, the dates are a bit hazy for me, but my mum would know. Please let me know if I can help :)
