Unfortunatly the brim on late postwar caps are far too wide(which this is) You should be looking for a early postwar issue, which has one far narrower.

Nice 1950's job is what you want, then change the capstar for a wartime Naval one (its half way between a pilotka sized one and the ushanka/furashka sized one).

Also watch out for the tallys (the ribbon round the hat with the fleet name on it - Red Fleet tallys arent for individual ships during WW2 - pre war yes, but wartime no!). You have to make sure its the correct version of the name - for example the Baltic Fleet was also the Red Banner Baltic Fleet and Twice Red Banner Baltic Fleet....

If you have a i head... good luck! All the ones I have seen are like 56 or 57...

Its not too important actually, the style for wearing hats "Soviet stylee" is to wear the smallest possible one and balanced on the back of your head.... you should be able to go at least one maybe two sizes too small and it look ok still....

56 hat vs 60 head is niet possible tho ;-)

My Naval hat is about a size 58 - the label is long gone so I don't know for certain - but it looks OK on my size 60 bonce.

As Tovarisch Kozlov says slightly smaller is, in fact, better with the Naval hats.

Here you go, as promised...

Three different "Donald Ducks".

On the left is a 1950's one, in the middle an early 1980's one and on the right a 1988 pattern "big hat"

I think Trident have the last pattern.

I am led to believe the 50's one is the same size as a wartime one but the capstar is smaller.

None of the tallys are good for wartime however!
