On page 5 of the Heroines of the S.U. book is a picture of the "Night Witches". Some are wearing Gyms with skirt, whilst some appear to wear a long military dress that looks a bit like a Gym tucked into a long skirt. I thought that the Gym was never tucked in which begs my question - was there a uniform dress or is this indeed a gym tucked into a skirt? You cannot see the seam at the waist due to the belt - if the seam was there at all.

Danke

Short answer is yes, there is a uniform dress. Never seen one outside of a picture though.

Sorry comrade, your five year plan to answer this question has over-run - it took 5 years and 5 months to answer the genosse ;-)

Gulag for you!

I feel quite sure that the date on the question is old style from before the Revolution....

It's a question worth answering anyway - can't think why it didn't get one back in the day. :D

Anyway, humour aside, I thought female uniforms were actually a postwar creation?

I believe that female gymanstiorki are a post war creation (always happy to be corrected though) there is a dress - there's a picture in the larger Shalito book will have a look to see if I can get it uploaded later.
