I want to badge up a 37 pattern battledress as a sergeant of the Royal Engineers serving in England during the early war years. I have the stripes and will assume I need a pair of Royal Engineer shoulder titles? Would an arm of service bar been worn? and were there any other badges worn by a sapper in the chemical warfare section? Also, is there a specfic placement of said stripes, titles etc? Any advice gladly accepted, thanks.

If my memory services me right arm of service strips came about 1940 you may also need a formation badge .
But it all depends on the year you are doing ?

For 1939 officially you would only have rank badges and possibly slip on embroidered 'RE' titles, black on Khaki (https://hatchfive.wordpress.com/2015/03 ... er-titles/). Unofficially in 1939 many regulars wore brass shoulder titles and collar dogs taken from the old service dress on their battledress uniform, but this was strictly against regulations! This photograph, albeit of a Royal Artiulleryman, shows brass collardogs on a BD blouse:
