Hello all,

Quick question concerning UK based REME units.

Did they (apart from the standard shoulder titles) have any flash patches available that designate their workshops or locations (corpses/commands) of where they were based in the UK?
Or would the shoulder title and AOS stripe suffice?

Can't seem to find any definite proof of this.

Thanks in advance!

Kenneth

If they were in static UK based Command Workshops they would have presumably worn the appropriate geographical area command badges.

In Southern Command the Area Badge was in different colours depending on the Corps it was worn by. The picture is from the British Military Badge Forum.

Thanks.
And presumably AA groups REME personel utilised the AA patch no matter the location they were posted?

Would there still be a lot of male REME personel (regular TA) present in the UK in '44-'45?

The AA Command Badge was only extended to all personal after a certain date which the link I posted will probably tell you. Prior to this individual AA Divisional Badges were worn with only HQ Command personal wearing the Bow and Arrow.

There would have been a need everywhere for REME personal to man the various lines of repair back to Base Workshops. The pre-war Territorials could be anywhere.
