The maintenance section jeep is "probably" numbered B22, if they're going down in size of vehicles with the numbering (starting with the tanks and heading downwards to the smaller vehicles), which is the only way I can get a jeep to end up being numbered B21, as in your photo.

EH????

On both your chart and the T/O I posted, the maintenance jeep (B22?) DOES NOT HAVE a radio. The HQ jeep (B21?) does have a radio.

What's your point? The jeep in the photo, by deduction of having a radio, is "probably" the HQ jeep, not the maintenance jeep.

Oh, and note, no recon troop...

Cheers,
Glen.

TO&E 17 -15 Nov 43 (previous to the one posted above) has a reconnaissance platoon within the Battalion HQ Company consisting of 1 Halftrack and 5 jeeps. These are included in the 8 Halftracks and 11 Jeeps in the above Battalion Headquarters. If you like I can give you a breakdown of the units in the Battalion Headquarters?

Cheers, Jon

I was meaning a seperate Recon Troop with M8's and jeeps, which was what Anthony was after.

Here's the T/O 17-16 Battalion HQ one, with the Recon Platoon in it (1 halftrack and 4 jeeps):

Sorry to be confusing, Anthony was doing me swede in.... ;)

Those pictures come from a serie of picture taken in Fosses-la-Ville (Belgium - between Charleroi and Namur) beginning September 1944.
It is in a castle (Château de Taravisée) property.
It is where was located the VIIth Corps HQ during a few days of Sept 44 (didn't found the exact days).

The M20 near an M8 we can see on one of the pictures (link from Anthony) is the M20 of General Collins (he is inside on the left front side looking at maps). (this one is not the M20 from the 1st TD Group)

In that serie of pics, there are quite many different units, all to support the VIIth Corps HQ.

As the 759th was attached to the 4th Cav and the 4th Cav was about 30 km South of Fosses-la-Ville, I suspect that B company or one platoon of B company was used as close protection of General Collins HQ, at least at that time.

Perhaps too late in that topic dated from 2011...

Here is the activity log of the 759th Light Tank
http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p4013coll8/id/3434/filename/3444.pdf

I own the picture collection (about 80 pictures) that includes the 759th B21 jeep displayed above in that topic.
The picture collection is now stored in the Belgian War archives (CEGES)

According to my wife grand-mother log book, they arrived in Fosses-La-Ville (Taravisée castle) on Sept 7th 1944.

Elements of the 759th were attached to the VIIth Corps of General Collins who installed his HQ (Jayhawk ) in the family castle.
Just before Collins arrival, the castle was occupied by the famous Major Alfred Becker (Wehrmacht - Sturmgeshütz)

For the fun, here is a picture of my house in 1944 (VIIth Corps Jayhawk ) and today in 2013 :)

Yves

And my 1943 Ford GPW in restoration (will be finished early next year) with the 759th B21 military marking

I've digitized the original slides so here is a better quality picture of the tank man.
