Hello,

What kind of rank slide would be worn on a Battle dress for RNC midshipman ? A normal rank slide like today or something different ? Plus does anyone have any midshipman rank slides ?

Thanks

ben

Completely from memory at the moment, but I believe there's a good photo of officers handling a boat at HMS. Armadillo and a number of them are midshipmen wearing plain black shoulder boards (as the Sub-Lt and above ones, minus the braid). I think there's also a midshipman doing likewise in the famous photo aboard a landing craft in May '44 whilst on a training exercise...

Purely going from memory until I can look the photos up at home though!

Okay great thanks mate I haven't found anything yet as midshipman is training as an officer and I thought they never saw action on the front with RNC

There were/are shoulder boards for Midshipmen - plain black but with the tab, button and cord at the top end, like on the lapels of the uniform coat. I've probably still got my old ones somewhere.

Those weren't in existance in WWII, Pusser.

Midshipman either wore blank shoulder boards (reflecting practice on the tropical dress whites), or none at all.

NATIVE: Those are the sacred pyramids where my ancestors are buried.
BRITISH OFFICER: Cool. There any kinda zombie curse or anything we should know about? I mean, I want to pillage'em, but I don't want to cause no problems.
NATIVE: Our people lie merely asleep in their graves, waiting to shriek forth and bring agonising death to any who would dare disturb their peace.
BRITISH OFFICER: Be serious.
NATIVE: ...in truth the curse is probably apocryphal.
BRITISH OFFICER: Wicked. Carter, bust out the Gatling guns! I want to be revered as a God by teatime.
