Hi All
I've been on the lookout for a grey swedish zelt,Not easy to come by I know, and drawing a blank so far,When did the camo zelt start being used by the swedish army? Any info would be greatly appreciated. If they are ok date wise they are easier to get. Just on the heads up also there are some swedish bread bags on e-bay at the moment,The one I have just received is 1935 dated.
Thanks
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

From what I can tell, the camo "tält halv" was introduced in 1945. I know that Sabre sales had lots of the camo section for sale, but the grey ones are as you say hard to come by (too many bloody German reenactors using them! )

You find the grey ones every so often over here in Sweden - I will keep my eye out for you  Do you need anything else?

Myself and a friend are putting together a comprehensive guide to Swedish uniforms and equipment for a Swedish reenacting forum - I will post you a link to it when we are finished.

Ashley

PS - The Swedish word for "zelt" is "Tält" (pronounced telt! :P )

EDIT:

Just found a seller on Tradera (Swedish Ebay) that has 10 of them for about nine pounds each!

It looks like he only takes bids from Swedish members. Took a while to sign up and translate each step too.
Fancy acting as a distributer Ashley? I'd love one.

Aha! Didn't bother to read any of that as I use it a lot.

Yeah, if you two guys want one I can buy them and send them over. Let me know for sure and we can figure the best way of payment etc. ;)

How did you get on with your Swedish kit guide? I wouldn't mind a look at it if it's available?

Cheers
Joe

Bit old thread, but I would just like to add that the common swedish term would really be "knäppetält" (button-up-tent), "rengskydd" (rain cover), or just "tält".

"Tälthalva" sounds like an anglicism, and sort of assumes you wouldn't piece more than 2 together.. don't know an awful lot of details in the subject (just have a deconverted M/39-58 and some field gear) but sometimes it helps having the right search words!

Ok, so its old but this might answer the question:

http://www.surplusbuy.se/products/417-r ... l-gra.aspx

Can't believe anyone would use these for "German"... look proper farby to me.

They have vague similarities in colour to some of the pre-war zeltbahn used by the paramilitary organisations that did abound in the 3rd Reich. Some evidence of early versions of the military versions of the SS using grey.
You are right though, proper farby.

I'd have thought there was a better choice for grey SS-VT zelt's but I'm not going to hint too much or those will also be snapped up by SS farbs ;-)

Hi Joe,

Still working on this! :) Other things have gotten in the way (having a baby for one - sort of takes away all of your free time! ;) )
