Hi fellows

Yes, our country fought alongside the allies in WW2 in Italy. We sent 25334 men and we lost 943 (many at Montese and Monte Castelo).
Our Brazilian Expeditionay Force was compound by one Infantry Division and one fighter group and also by supporting allies with military bases on the northeast coast of Brazil.
Brazil had 34 ships sunk by Axis submarines during World War II.

Regards

Sid

Yes, the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, or Força Expedicionária Brasileira (FEB), was an integral part of the US 5th army.

I lived in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, as a boy and only learned about the Brazilian involvement a few years ago. My 1945 Dodge WC51 has been marked as an ambulance of the FEB. It is currently under complete restoration in Holland and will sport Brazilian markings once it has been finished, sometime later this year.

We are a group planning to drive down to Italy and visit the arear around The Gothic Line, where a lot of heavy fighting took plave late 1944 and early 1945, in the summer of 2010. "To The Appenines And Back" will start at the Wings of Victory museum in Veghel, Holland. We wiil shortly be putting up information on our website, www.MVBros.com, where you can aslo follow the restoration of my Dodge WC51, among other things.

More detailed information about Brazil in WW2:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Air_Force

By the way, the Brazilian Air Force was recognized by a Presidential Unit Citation issued on April 26, 1986—one of only three non-US squadrons to receive such a citation.

Hi Paul,

I read about the Brazilians that went to this this W&P. I unfortunately didn't make it to Beltring this year.

Would you be interested in joining our group that's going to Italy next year?

I'd love to see some pictures of your FEB kit. I have replicated both the plain, early, "BRASIL" patch, and the "Cobra" patch and will soon get the correct FEB sergeant's and corporal's stripes.

Hi Sid,

Yes it's my WC51 appearing in the movie. I was also military advisor (read the after texts) and my personal assistant played the main character, the medic.

The whole thing was shot in one day, June 7th 2009, outside Colleville sur Mere.

In the name of all brazilians, I would like to thank you and all the team that played the role of movie remembering our Brazilian Expeditionary Force. Our country needs historical memory and perhaps seeing people of other countries making reverence to facts of our history can help to wake up our authorities, artists and movie makers.

Thanks again!

Sid
