Only the right side of the table is mine ;)

It was a good two days, with some 800 visitors. My colleague didn't really interact much with the public so I was doing most of the talking. Did shoot some pictures with the Speed and Combat Graphic.

Hello Rick
Really good stuff as ever well done ... erm ... just one 'little' thing ( yes I know, trust me  ) :) ... the left hand picture, did you know its in reverse .. looking at the Signal Corps stamp in the bottom corner, its reading backwards .. ?? Or is there an element of artistic (photographic) licence going on :D

If I may, I'm going to 'hijack' this thread slightly as its a little more relevant than the for sale page at this point. Coming to my fellow photogs first then, I am having a bit of a clear out and have

a 1942 dated Kodak Bantam, SOLD
a 1941 dated Kodak 35 Rangefinder model SOLD
an early Kodak 35 (pre 1940's model) disguised as a PH324, looks the part :) SOLD

Pics to follow, will include some film in period boxes with the cameras, please PM if interested.

If you look very closely on the original photo you'll see the "US" on the e-tool cover (and the buckle on it) is orientated the right way round. You'll often find this photo printed backwards (because someone stuck the SC stamp on the wrong side of the negative) ;)

It is the exact same location, the right way at Pont-Brocard. The lady living across the street still remembers seeing Pvt Joseph De Freitas of the 2nd Armored division cooking and the photographer taking the original photo on the 29th of July 1944.

Hi Rick, now that you point it out, yes I can (just) see the US stamp, I stand corrected :)

Considering the changes that have occurred in the location, you have done very well to match up the pics, good job.

Impressive work Rick! It must have been a special moment to talk to the lady who witnessed both photoshoots...

It was, despite the small language barrier. She was happy to leaf through my copy of "Breakout at Normandy" with the photos from 1944 of her village that she had never seen before.
My friend Anthony Garrison took a photo of me talking to her.

Taking a bit of a break from LH photography after processing some 500 analog photos over the last couple of weeks. Still have about 700 Digital photos left to do from the CCB trip.

Wow... good luck with that!

We had quite a similar moment earlier this month. We were reenacting an SAS operation in Brittany, where we were "dropped" by night on the real historical drop zone, then had to walk to a nearby forest where the SAS had settled their base in June 1944. Doing so, we met a local farmer who was 10 years old in 1944 and still remembers the Free French paratroopers who knocked at his farm's door, in the night of the 5th-6th of June 1944... He remembers their helmets glowing in the moonlight and recognized our uniforms and equipment.
Really a moment out of time for us.
