Now you see the VCR Bill was made to stop Shag going out of an evening with his guns, bloody hell, you could out fit us all as a Dunkirk unit with SMLE's if 185 ever did it

But that is impressive mate.

Here's a few pics of my collection, sorry for the Quality. Most of what's on the rack is original, with my reenacting repros to the right end. All of the Class A's are original and about 50% are originally badged and named, and if they're not they're badged with original insignia which is the next best thing. Couple of my helmets are currently undergoing work so are missing from the shelf. Weapons on the floor M1 Garand, M1A1 Carbine, M1911A1 .45 pistol, Thompson SMG

Jackets on the mannequins all original and originally badged. 218th FAB, 41st ID. 16th IR, 1st ID (Trooper present with the division with all the 1st ID campaigns, including Omaha Beach Normandy), 39th FAB 3rd ID, 8th USAAF and an original M-1942 Paratrooper jacket with original and (presumably) originally badged Airborne Command SSI. All headwear original.

All items in cabinet personal belongings of Sgt Charles Giles, 13th USAAF, PTO. His uniform items are on rack (His 32R uniforms too small to get on mannequins :(). On my webbing hat stand :P.

Cheers chap. The MkII has an interesting story. It was one of the guns used in Peter Laidlers Sten gun book. It doesn't have the hole in the left hand side for the cocking handle to slide into to stop the bolt going back. It's also near mint :D

Was it Peter Laidler that used to get his stuff fully refurbed when he got it, or was someone else?

The Sake trays can be picked up off ebay quite easily, the ration pot you will probaly have hard job to find, i was lucky, all of the above stuff was a present from a fellow Japanese collector and the ration pot is the first one i've ever seen so i wouldn't like to say what the price of one would be.

If your interested in any bits let me know and i might be able to source another one for you mate

Hi Shag,
My sten Mk2S has no safety hole on the body either.
Its extra interesting as the Serial number has been removed(ground and weld filled) and its Stamped No2.

Whats really interesting is that the original owner has inscribed his army number on it. Someone from the Royal Norfolks

Paul im now officially jealous, it does make me wonder though who in the Norfolks would have had one.
Maybe a transfer to a new unit/regiment? But would he of kept his old number?
At a guess most of the AUX had them and a lot of the training personnel could of got hold of one just a thought.

Very nice.

I was told that some of the Norfolks were in the early war commando units, so thats probably how the owner got it, plus its an early first pattern so it puts the ownership to earlier in the war still. Tracing the owners service should prove interesting :D

It wouldn't be Aux as the number is a Regulars number. From a guess I put the numbers issue date around 1940/1941.

Ooops I should of phrased that a bit better, I intended to say that It could have been from a Norfolk regular training members of the AUX.
