My girlfriend is looking for something cooler to wear at next years summer shows so she is putting together an ATS KD other ranks uniform and it is proving a bit difficult to track down the standard other ranks aertex shirt. We are not aware that anyone is currently making a reproduction of this item but if anyone does know of someone manufacturing them that would be very helpful.

Or if any one has a spare original for sale? size 8/10, 34” bust.

Cheers

Richard

If you find a good one let me know. Aertex is no longer manufactured (only a synthetic version used for sports shirts - yukky). Originals occasionally come up for sale but they're somewhat pricey now.

What Price Glory do fairly good repro Aertex. I've not checked their range for ATS specific items but with a bit of tailoring I'd have thought you coud cobble something (tailoring mens' uniforms to fit was, I believe, an ATS occupation in the early years!)

Thanks for the lead on the Peddelaters I hadn’t thought of looking on their website. I know they have been going quite a few years now however I haven’t really heard much about their kit other than the odd comment which has not been altogether complimentary. Their website looks at least a little bit more professional since the last time I looked but has anyone else got anything to say about the quality of their kit, its accuracy and their service?

WPG don’t list any ATS KD uniform but yes we had already considered altering a men’s shirt and the girlfriend is pretty good with a needle and thread so might be the way we have to go.

Is this another name for another well know Indian manufacturer? It would be nice to be able to zoom in on some of the photographs on their site which you cannot appear to do. Some of the pictures could be originals rather than their product.

My wife had the WPG men's aertex shirt tailored to the women's version.

The half fly was extended to a full fly. The pockets were made into simple patch pockets and the pocket flaps were modified.

Aertex (cellular cotton) *is* still in production. The only issue with purchasing it (I've been down this route) is licencing.

As you can see, Old Town clothing still produce shirts in Cellular cotton.

Paddelaters are wang by the way.

Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

I got all excited then, but they don't seem to do the cellular cotton in the right colour for ATS. And the design isn't quite right. Unless I've missed something (very possible).

No, they don't do anything suitable for ATS but it is cellular cotton (Aertex Tm) and the pale ones are identical to WLA ones...but for £80 a pop. *ouch*
It was more to say that it is still in production and we did look into purchasing the fabric but cost was too high.

What a shame. I wish someone would really start taking female re-enactors seriously and produce the same range of stuff that they do for men.

Same here. I try and repro odd bits here and there but the set up costs for multisize garments made in the UK is staggering.

:(

Have you tried a theatre costume maker (even one who has retired)?

Six.Q.D. might be worth checking out. They've had a stall at War & Peace for the last two years and have an impressive selection of original JG and KD including women's clothing and uniforms. Not always cheap but not as expensive as some. Their website provides contact details:
