Apart from Apple Tree Lane does anyone else make repro. WVS clothing? I was thinking about getting APT's "wrap overall" (for the missus since it doesn't match my eyes), but I am unsure of its accuracy, especially since their WVS hat doesn't look right.

The WVS wrap around overall was a kind of bottle green in colour so if ATL's version is like that then it's correct. The curator of the WRVS museum has written a very helpful guide on war time WVS uniform that you might like to check out before buying. Google WVS_wartime_uniform 1939 -1945. It's interesting reading, but despite it's existance people still insist that a dark green dress is wartime......1940's and early 50's yes.... but I've given up arguing now. It's not worth the effort.

Link to the PDF here!: http://www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/Uploads/Documents/About%20us/wvs_wartime_uniform.pdf

It is indeed a very interesting read.

Thanks, I now have a copy. Apple Tree Lane claim their wrap is dark green, with dark red lettering. The photo of the repro makes the repro. look lighter than the original shown in the uniform guide, and the lettering doesn't looks too light. http://www.appletreelane1940shop.uk/wvs ... l-43-p.asp

They came in all shades of green. Mine are a washed out bottle green but I sold an original last year that was unissued and dark green. They had so many manufacturers that they are a plethora of colours. Not all embroidered either.

As for Appletreelane, do a search on here, I don't think there customer service was up to much according to several members. Certainly some of their WAAF and ATA kit is pure fantasy.

Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

After seeing some of the comments i think I'll steer clear of them. I'll have to keep an eye out for an original just to have for display.
