Ladies

My wife and I are attending a WWII charity event.

I have a uniform, we are looking for something for my wife.

She is ex-RAF nurse (PM).

She would rather not do RAF and is set on the idea of a Commonwealth army uniform like worn in 'Ice Cold In Alex'.

She doesn't want to consider US and, if possible, would like to represent a nurse, but not in Ward Uniform.

This fits in with my long term desire to repaint my Jeep in British, North African colours to honour my Uncle.

Please could you recommend a supplier? Thanks in advance

Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

Lol, oh well...mines a lot bigger than that.:D

If she's only a 10 you should be able to pick up KD from ebay fairly reasonably cheaply. What price glory make it, but not sure what size they start at.

Lots of good repro hats out there, is she thinking FANY or QA or similar?

Many thanks.

She'd love the KD with skirt but they all seem to do trousers.

WPG advertise nothing as 'female', but there may be something there.

Who do the hats, please?

I have a pattern draft for a KD skirt and a good fabric supplier.

which hat is she after and I'll put you on to a trader.

She would like a KD uniform, so if there is a supplier of KD hats that would be wonderful.

What top would you recommend to go with the KD skirt?

She has now changed her mind about the skirt (I understand it is her prerogative) but could run one up if no trousers are available in her size.

I think she is getting quite excited about the idea!!

Solomon Adler does the KD skirt as well. But maybe I'll recommend you to try it with the pattern from Kate.
The skirt from Solomon is OK, but much more expensive than it should be - I think;)
In KD uniform she could represent QAIMNS or ATS - ATS are maybe better, because the insignia is easily available.
If she'd like to have ATS uniform she will need:

KD skirt,
shirt - the best is to have original ATS Aertex shirt - but I found it impossible to buy it anywhere :D I wear male KD shirt (from WPG). The difference is in material and in pockets (the pockets could be easily sewn to the the correct "pattern" - not folded;))
1937 pattern web belt (same as men wore)
brown shoes (I bought mine on SOF - not perfect, but OK)
SD cap (classical SD cap which was normally worn with SD uniform) with cap badge - I have mine cap from SOF as well - and I'm satisfied - my head size is a bit bigger than it was usual in WWII, so, I couldn't find any orginal cap for me;)
stockings (lisle) or I found a picture in Ingram and Brayley's book of ATS in KD wearing khaki socks - looks nice as well:)

I hope it helps!
