Hello,

I'd like to know if colors between ww2 british army dress et current FAD No2 dress are similar or not.
My wife bought a ww2 SD jacket but she looks for a skirt for her ATS SD uniform.
Or do you know a better opportunity ?

Thanks.

Frederic,
Belgium.

Hi Frederic,
The FAD fabirc is quite a brown colour and will not match the WW2 SD jacket at all. Also, it has pleat so you would have to remove those as well. It will be hard to get a perfect match as modern materials are different as well as die batches (not even WW2 skirts and jackets can be guaranteed to match if they weren't cut from the same cloth. Modern skirts will be of a different weight (much lighter) than your WW2 jacket. You could look out for a heavy weight officer's skirt (before FAD) which are greener, but it will have a pleat again which you will have to remove, the fabric will be different and colour also, but it won't be as far away as the FAD skirt. Your other option is one of the repro sellers (Soldier of Fortune?) but also they are not great and it will not match exactly. The only other option is to have one made or keep watching eBay or similar to see if something comes up, however, don't expect a perfect match either way.

Good luck!

Many thanks for these informations. My wife doesn't want to buy at Soldier of fortune because the ATS skirt doensn't looks good.
